FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NOVEMBER 7, 2016
ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NEW YORK - Igmor Crystal Imports, Inc., the nation’s largest supplier of crystal parts to the lighting, jewelry, and interior design is relocating operations from Long Island City, NY to Rockville Centre, New York.
In April, 2016 – just 14 months following our move into Long Island City, New York - the Blanchard Building (Igmor’s current location) - was sold to the Related Companies and all tenants, including Igmor were subsequently notified that we would have to vacate. “This came as a complete shock, as we were less than two years into our lease and just completed the build-out of our state of the art showroom and warehouse (13,000 square feet)” said Noah Gordon, President and COO of Igmor. Adding “during the last few months, we have been witness to a dramatic transformation of the real-estate landscape in Long Island City, but we did not expect to become part of that transformation this quickly”. CEO, Mr. Dave Lewin added: “having to move our operation and keep operations running throughout is definitely unsettling, but we plan to use the opportunity to improve efficiency, maximize customer experience, and do what has made us number one in crystal parts: stock the largest inventory and keep prices stable”.
During the week of November 7, 2016, Igmor Crystal expects to complete its transition to the new location at 70 Randall Avenue, Rockville Centre, New York 11570
By July, 2016 after reviewing several locations, we began negotiations to acquire new space in Rockville Centre, New York, just a few miles east of our current location Long Island City. In September, 2016, we signed the papers and in October, construction began on our new location.
NOT COMPRIMISING ON LOCATION
After nearly 50 years on West 25th Street in Manhattan, and a short time in nearby Long Island City, our search for a property focused on accessibility to our customers and shipping logistics. With this in mind, we chose Rockville Centre from dozens of properties because of its access to all forms of public transportation, proximity to JFK International Airport, and ease of access to Manhattan, our home for nearly 60 years.
SHOWROOM AND WAREHOUSE VISIBILITY
During construction, in October 2016, we designed a showroom, and by extension a warehouse, that is designed with our customers in mind. Visitors will be able to walk through aisles containing more than 10,000 square feet of visible crystal.
Igmor is the largest stocking supplier of Swarovski, Czech and Imported Crystal to the lighting, interior design, jewelry and novelty industries. We have seized this opportunity to conduct a thorough inventory reconciliation, inventory management software upgrade, and the creation of an online sales medium. Our website is being redesigned to improve efficiency in searching for items, real-time stock status for our wholesale customers, and industry designs and trends. And, we continue to fulfill orders usually within the same or next business day.
